What Peak Vegan Protein Isolate Salted Peanut Caramel is made of

The protein comes from rice isolate and pea isolate at 47.3% each. Their amino acid profiles complement one another — rice is short on lysine, pea on methionine — and because both are isolates rather than concentrates the powder lands at 76 g of protein per 100 g, with 6 g of carbohydrate and no sugars at all. Xanthan gum gives the shake a thicker mouthfeel than most vegan powders, and added salt is what makes the caramel read as salted.

Ingredients and allergens

Rice protein isolate (47.3%), pea protein isolate (47.3%), flavouring, salt, thickener (xanthan gum), sweetener (steviol glycosides from stevia).

Allergens: may contain cereals containing gluten, eggs, milk and soybeans. The peanut note comes from flavouring — there are no peanuts in the recipe.

How to use it

Mix a 30 g dose — two measuring scoops — with 300 ml of water and shake. This is one flavour that rewards a splash of plant milk, and it blends particularly well with a frozen banana and a spoon of real peanut butter if you want to push it further. Try it over oats or in a post-ride smoothie. Once opened, use within three months and store the pouch sealed, cool and dry.

A note on the salt

At 0.84 g per serving, this flavour carries roughly twice the salt of the plainer options in the range — that is deliberate, and it is what stops the caramel tasting flat. For most people it is a non-issue against a 6 g daily guideline. If you are actively tracking sodium, the unflavoured Natural version sits at 0.42 g and lets you season it yourself.

Who is it for?

Anyone who finds plain vanilla and chocolate shakes dull by week three, and anyone avoiding dairy and artificial sweeteners at the same time. If you want the same formula in a different direction, there is Vanilla Pistachio and Cookies & Cream.

Frequently asked questions

Does it contain peanuts? No — the flavour is created with flavouring. Traces from the production line are possible, as listed in the allergen note.

Why is the salt higher than other flavours? Salt is an added ingredient here; it is what makes a salted caramel taste salted.

How many servings per pouch? Twenty-five, at 30 g each.

Where can I check the manufacturer’s spec? Peak publishes the range at peak.ag.

Mixing a plant protein well

Plant isolates reward a little technique. Liquid into the shaker first, powder second, or you will be scraping the bottom. Use the full 300 ml — a gum-thickened powder does not need help getting thicker. Let it stand a minute after shaking so the xanthan gum hydrates, and the grain settles out. For this flavour in particular, a blender with ice and half a frozen banana is worth the extra washing up: the salt and caramel come forward and the pea note recedes.
