What makes krill oil different from fish oil

The omega-3 content of krill oil is carried largely in phospholipid form — the same structural form as the fats in your own cell membranes — rather than the triglyceride form of standard fish oil. That difference is why krill oil is prized for being easily absorbed despite its more modest omega-3 numbers. Krill oil also brings a passenger fish oil lacks: astaxanthin, the red carotenoid pigment that gives krill (and flamingos) their colour and acts as the oil’s natural antioxidant.
