The Anaé menstrual cup size L is the high-capacity option in the range: 28 ml — designed for heavy flows and for new mothers, whose needs both call for more room and fewer interruptions. Reusable, economical and zero waste, it is the cup for anyone whose current products simply can’t keep up with the heavier days.

Why a cup at all?

One small cup replaces years of disposable products: it is reusable for years when cared for properly, which is why the cup pays for itself within months and why “zero waste” is more than a slogan here. Emptied, rinsed and reinserted, it works at home, at the office, during sport and in the pool — the situations that make disposables most annoying are exactly where a cup shines.

Made properly, in France

Anaé cups are manufactured in France from medical-grade platinum silicone — the material standard for products worn inside the body — under rigorous production controls. The design includes a small flower moulded at the base which makes gripping and removal genuinely easier, a detail you appreciate from the first cycle. Each cardboard box contains the cup, detailed instructions, and an organic cotton pouch for storage and transport between cycles.

Getting started

Read the enclosed instructions carefully before first use — insertion angle, the fold that works for you, and cleaning between cycles are all covered, and the learning curve is usually two or three cycles. Empty the cup as often as the instructions and your flow require. Important: as with any internal period product, be aware of toxic shock syndrome (TSS); the instructions explain the precautions, including maximum wear time. If anything feels wrong, remove the cup and speak to a doctor or pharmacist.

Caring for your cup

Rinse with clean water when emptying, follow the instructions’ guidance for cleaning between cycles, and store the cup breathing in its cotton pouch — never sealed in plastic. Inspect it now and then as the years pass; silicone is durable, but any change in texture means it has earned retirement.

Built for the heavy days

Capacity is the whole argument for size L: 28 ml holds several times what a regular tampon absorbs, which on heavy days translates into meaningfully longer stretches between changes — the difference between planning your day around your period and simply having one. New mothers returning to periods postpartum also typically size up, which is why midwife advice so often lands on the larger cup.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know L is my size? Size L (28 ml) is Anaé’s recommendation for heavy flows and for women who have recently given birth. If your flow is average and you haven’t had a recent vaginal birth, size M is usually the better fit.

Can I swim with it? Yes — cups are the water-friendly option, pool or sea.

How long does one cup last? Years, with proper care — which is the entire economic and environmental argument.

The maths of switching

A heavy flow burns through disposables faster than any other, which makes size L the quickest cup in the range to pay for itself — typically within three or four cycles against the monthly spend it replaces. From there, every cycle is essentially free, and the bathroom bin gets remarkably lighter. Malta’s summer makes its own argument too: a cup you can swim with from June to October is worth more here than in most countries.

Postpartum timing? Follow the guidance in the enclosed instructions and your midwife’s advice on when to resume internal products after birth — the cup will still be there when you’re ready.
